Introduction to Testing

Divided into two parts, one is a children's group test to verify whether the packaging can prevent children from opening; The second is the elderly group, which verifies that the packaging is easy for the elderly to open

Children's group

Personnel composition

A. Number of children: 200

B Age and gender: Age between 42 and 51 months (including 42 and 51 months, age and gender should be evenly distributed)

C Try to represent different social classes, races, and cultural backgrounds of the entire country's population as much as possible

D Having good physical health, no obvious physiological or intellectual defects, and possessing certain hands-on abilities

• e At most two types of packaging can be tested each time (provided that the principle of opening is different)

F There must be a certain time interval between participating in the experiment and participating again

testing environment

The experimental location should be familiar to children and avoid external interference. Multiple locations should be selected from regions with different population distributions, and the experiment may not be completed at the same location or time.

test method

a. The children's experiment is conducted in pairs and supervised by a person. With no interference between the pairs, 5 pairs of children can be arranged for the experiment in the same room at the same time. Without demonstration, unless the packaging design itself includes tools, children should attempt to open the packaging in any way other than using tools within 5 minutes.

b. For children who have not successfully opened the packaging within 5 minutes, the supervisor will demonstrate how to open the packaging (without verbal prompts). After the demonstration, these children attempted to open the packaging again within 5 minutes.

Result determination: If the following two criteria are met, it is considered a child safety packaging

(a) At least 85% of children in the experimental group were unable to open it within 5 minutes without demonstration;

(b) At least 80% of children are unable to open the packaging for the entire 10 minutes

Elderly group

Personnel composition

(a) Number of people: 100 healthy and normal elderly people;

(b) Age and gender: Women should account for 70%, with 25 people aged 50-54 (including 50 and 54 years old, the same below); 25 people aged 55 to 59, 50 people aged 60 to 70

test method

a. Elderly people are required to read the instructions on how to open the packaging (how to seal it) within 5 minutes without demonstration, and open the packaging independently (and reseal it correctly).

b. The team members who successfully opened (and correctly resealed) the test packaging within 5 minutes will be sent a new identical packaging and asked to independently open (and correctly reseal) the packaging within 1 minute of the test time,

Result determination: If 90% or more eligible elderly people are able to open the packaging (and correctly reseal it) within the first 5-minute testing time and open it (and correctly reseal it) within the following 1 minute, it is considered not to affect the normal use of adults.
